Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.DSWatson.xyz and this is Author and Musician D.S. Watson’s home on the internet.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, it may collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Author’s note: I am not really sure if WordPress or Bluehost does this automatically, nor where to find it if it does. If I do find it, I will probably delete it.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Author’s note: I am not really sure if this is also something that Bluehost or WordPress does. Again, if it is automatic, I don’t know how to stop it, but if I can, I probably will.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

Do not upload anything copyrighted. And I probably will prohibit any media uploads if I can figure out how. If you do upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies…hopefully. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. Author’s note: This probably is automatic and was suggested text.

If you visit my login page, the website/Bluehost will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser…Author’s note: but is it really discarded? They say everything on the internet is forever.

When you log in, it will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. Author’s note: I don’t think this applies as I don’t think I’m allowing anyone to register on my website at this time.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day. Author’s note: Yeah, in your dreams that I’m letting others publish on my website. We’d have to be sleeping together for that to happen.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Author’s note: Yeah, this is some of the administrative stuff I’m supposed to do. Don’t know how to do it and it’s not happening unless it is automatic somehow. My guess is if you lose this stuff, it’s forever.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Author’s note: It’s also so I can make fun of you to my friends…I think I have friends.

For users that register on my website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Author’s note: And I’m sure if I knew what I was doing that could happen…however, I barely got this website up and barely made the buttons work. So, luck with that.

What rights you have over your data

If you leave comments, I will consider them public domain. I will work hard so that the only data we retain is your email address…if you provide it. Author’s note: My goal is if this site is ever hacked, there is nothing for them.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Author’s note: I hate spammers. You will be banned.

So have a great day…and buy…buy…buy!
